Jim Shannon was a narcotics police officer, before being arrested for assaulting another officer when they showed up at his family's home to check compliance with the two children only policy that was in effect. He was sentenced to six years in prison. He's married to a highly rated physician and has three children, two girls and a boy. When his wife and two children were chosen for the tenth pilgrimage to travel back 85 million years, he managed an escape from prison, retrieved their third child and byed security to his family on the journey back. Initially put on a work detail, he soon proved his worth as a law enforcement officer and now holds that position in Terra Nova.
