Dr. Janet Fraiser (Teryl Rothery) is the Chief Medical Officer for the Stargate Command (SGC) and is responsible for maintaining the health of the SG teams, as well as the SGC's staff and base personnel. She is also responsible for the health of alien refugees to Earth, including Goa'uld symbiotes. She identifies infectious diseases, which are a constant threat when exploring new worlds, and develops various medical solutions to the problems faced when caring for alien beings. She defends her medical principles sometimes in contradiction to mission goals and regardless of the identity of her patients.
